The Grass Eater is the title of a novel for children by Andreas Venzke . The illustrations come from Sabine Wimers.

The main character is the young Volker. The story is told in the Er-form from the perspective of the author.

The Cologne city child Volker does not eat what his mother puts in front of him. He only eats bread and drinks milk in abundance. That's why his parents send him to the country. But not only does Volker not find the right food there, but worse: unspoken, he turns into a cow. Later on, the parents initially despair of their son's new eating habits, but soon realize the business advantages of marketing this behavior.

In "The Grass Eater" Andreas Venzke took up the topic of marketing, which does not stop at the fate of a child. The novel is a social satire written as a children's book .
