The Herald

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Herald was a membership magazine of the Apostolic Community and the Association of Apostolic Christians , which appeared from 1954 to 2010 . By 1909 the New Apostolic Church had already had a church magazine under the same name. The members' magazine has been called Blickpunkt since 2011 .

It was founded in 1954 by Otto Güttinger from Zofingen , Switzerland.

At the latest since the foundation of the Association of Apostolic Congregations in Düsseldorf in 1956, it has been the official German-language publication organ of this church association. In the Netherlands there is a magazine called De Bazuin Sions (German: The Trumpet of Zions), in France the magazine is called Le Héraut . In Australia there is a publication called The Herald . However, the editors of these periodicals are all independent of one another, and there is a lively exchange of articles between the German, Dutch and French versions.

The magazine was published as a bi-monthly publication from 1954 to the end of 1970. Until issue no. 17 on May 1, 1957, the subtitle was: "Half-monthly publication of the Apostolic Congregation". From issue no. 18 of May 15, 1957, it was changed to: "Bi-monthly publication on the maintenance of apostolic faith".

Since the January 1971 edition, the publication has been published monthly.

On January 1, 1992, the subtitle was changed again to: "Monthly of the Association of Apostolic Congregations".

On January 1, 1993, the format changed through a merger with the second apostolic periodical Blickpunkt and at the same time the title pages were changed from white to yellow.

There is an online edition that got a new layout in February 2007.

In terms of content, the articles, which have thematically matched each other for several years, deal with biblical interpretations and current references to the situation of the community. There are also contributions from community life and organizational information from the church leadership. Advertisement sections or event notices are missing, as are feedback or comments from readers (letters to the editor) or controversial discussions.

The last edition of the Herald appeared at the end of 2010. From January 1, 2011, there will be a bimonthly, color, A4-sized magazine called “Blickpunkt”, which takes on the role of the Herald as a members' magazine for the German-speaking apostolic congregations.
