from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wanderer and His Shadow is a collection of aphorisms by Friedrich Nietzsche . It was published in 1880 as the second and final addendum to his collection of thoughts, Human, All Too Human .

Giorgio Colli , one of the editors of the Critical Study Edition of Nietzsche's Works, writes that Nietzsche withdrew to himself and experienced an impartial, scientific and objective period. The wanderer who speaks to his shadow because no one else is there to talk is the image that Nietzsche uses for his retreat.

The aphorisms, a total of 350 short texts, deal with reason , freedom of will , revenge , Christianity , music, literature, well-known painters, musicians, writers and others.
