Giorgio Colli
Giorgio Colli (born January 16, 1917 in Turin , † January 6, 1979 in Fiesole ) was an Italian philosopher, teacher, literary scholar and translator who, together with his student and friend Mazzino Montinari, began a critical complete edition of the works of Friedrich Nietzsche .
For thirty years Giorgio Colli was professor of the history of ancient philosophy at the University of Pisa . His son Enrico Colli organized the Colli Institute.
“Enthusiazon de lelethe tus pollus”, a quote from Plato's Phaedrus (249d), was the motto of his diploma thesis and also the motto of his life. That means in German: "... but people don't notice that he is enthusiastic" (translation: Friedrich Schleiermacher ).
