Little Herr Jakob

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Little Mr. Jakob is a comic figure from Hans Jürgen Press .

history

On January 3, 1965 , a small man with a strong mustache, striped shirt and bowler hat made his debut in Sternchen , the children's website of Stern magazine : initially nameless, this little Mr. Jakob went through everyday life with alert eyes and mostly in a good mood - soon often accompanied by his dog Troll.

Such a funny story was told in initially two, later usually four pictures. These picture stories were initially without words, later on the initiative of the Stern editorial team with rhyming comments by Karlos Thaler. The last episode appeared in Sternchen 26/1989, bringing the series to around 1200 episodes in total. Only a small part of it was also reprinted in books, then again without text, as originally intended by Press. Her humor is rather quiet, but always smart and resourceful, often bizarre, and extremely human, sometimes all too human. The action often takes place in the great outdoors.

“Then follows the smile about the same: when goldfish swimming in a circle are released from their aquarium into the river, only to swim again in a circle around themselves; or if Mr. Jakob finds an ice cream cone extension in the form of even more ice cream cones so that the giraffe in the zoo does not have to bend its neck, it wants to lick the ice cream; or when his resourceful dog dupes him so that he can occupy Jacob's chair.
