The Süddeutsche Postillon (at times also the Süd-Deutsche Postillon ) was a German satirical magazine that was founded in Munich in 1882 by Louis Viereck and Max Kegel and was published until 1910. The publisher was Maximin Ernst, who also printed Lenin's illegal magazine Iskra .
profile
The Süddeutsche Postillon is regarded as a “proletarian” among the satirical magazines published in Munich.
Eduard Fuchs judged that his magazine “differs from ' Wahren Jakob ' by a much sharper key, by a more energetic cultivation of political satire”.
history
The magazine's heyday was between 1892 and 1901, when the magazine was headed by Eduard Fuchs. However, it always remained less successful than the Stuttgart rival paper Der Wahre Jacob . Ursula E. Koch also spoke of the “stepchild of the SPD”.
readership
The main readers are adult, politicizing workers in Bavaria, Saxony and Thuringia.
