Range of pens

Derwent colored pencils are traditionally sold in tin boxes that contain 12, 24, 36 or 72 different shades. They are also available as sets of 6 to try. The luxury version is a selection of wooden presentation boxes with a rich content.

Derwent's oldest line of colored pencils, "Artist", were expanded from 24 to 72 colors in 1939 and from 72 colors to 120 in 1996. "Studio" and "Watercolor" pens are currently only available in 72 original colors. Pastel pencils were introduced in 1994 and are available in 90s. Derwent now also produces pastels without a wooden frame. Derwents latest invention is the "Signature" line. It consists of lightfast pencils available in 60 different colors. "Signature Watercolor", which can be mixed with water to create a watercolor effect, are limited to 40 colors. Derwent also makes a number of graphite and carbon pencils, as well as special purpose pencils such as pencils. B. "Aquatone", a series available in 24 colors that consists exclusively of water-soluble pigments in stick form. This makes "Aquatone" very color-intensive watercolor pencils without a wooden frame, which are also suitable for creating "splash effects". To do this, brush the surface of the pen hard with a wet brush or scrape particles off the Aquatone pen with a knife and then let water drip down from above.

The Pencil Museum

The Cumberland Pencil Museum, which can be found in Keswick (Cumbria, GB), shows the history of pencil making and the origins of Derwent pencils.
