The DesignTalente Handwerk competition (up to 2009 Junge Handwerk design competition in North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a design prize intended for young journeymen and masters, but also for students and graduates from design academies aged up to 30 years.

The competition, which lasts several days, takes place every two years and enables the young craftsmen to demonstrate their creativity and ability to work with the design of various handcrafted fabrics and materials and to present them to a broad public. The West German Chamber of Crafts ( WHKT ) as organizer and organizer awards a total of six prizes, each endowed with 3000 euros. An independent jury assesses the form and statement of the submitted pieces and then selects the winners.

Prizes are awarded in the following categories:

  • Furniture
  • Sculptures
  • Jewellery
  • dress
  • media
  • Living

The jury also has the opportunity to award a special prize.

Selected pieces by the winners and other participants will be presented to the public in a subsequent exhibition. The competition is supported by funds from the Ministry of Economics of North Rhine-Westphalia .
