German-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The German-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce (DUIHK, Hungarian: Angol-Magyar Ipari és Kereskedelmi Kamara) in Budapest is a German Chamber of Commerce in Hungary. It represents around 900 member companies in commercial transactions between Hungary and Germany, making it the largest bilateral business association in Hungary.

history

In 1920, German companies founded the German-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce (DUHK). Together with the German Chamber of Commerce for Austria, it was the first establishment of a German Chamber of Commerce abroad after the First World War and lasted until 1945.

Immediately after the political upheaval in Hungary, the Delegate Office of German Business was created in May 1991 as the predecessor organization of the DUIHK. The DUIHK was founded on May 7, 1993 by 47 company representatives.

aims

The DUIHK is an association of around 900 companies and institutions that are interested in maintaining and expanding German-Hungarian economic relations. The purpose of the Chamber according to the statutes is to maintain trade and economic relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Hungary and to promote the business interests of its members. It is a German Chamber of Commerce abroad recognized by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and at the same time its extraordinary member.

tasks

On the one hand, the DUIHK acts as a representation of the interests of its members. In addition, she supports companies in opening up markets abroad. In addition, she conducts public relations and lobbying work on economic development and questions of bilateral cooperation. As the official representation of the Free States of Bavaria and Saxony in Hungary, it promotes cooperation on an intergovernmental level.
