Austrocactus spiniflorus is a species of plant in the genus Austrocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet spiniflorus is derived from the Latin words spina for 'sting' or 'thorn' as well as florus for '-blütig' and refers to the thorny pericarpell of the species.

Austrocactus spiniflorus grows with flat, irregularly branched, partly subterranean shoots . Underground shoots are thin and pale. Above-ground ones are club-shaped, blue-green, up to 20 centimeters long and have a diameter of 4.5 centimeters. There are 6 to 8 blunt ribs that are flat tubercles . The needle-like, straight thorns are brown and darker at their base. The 1 to 3 central spines are 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters, the 5 to 6 expanded radial spines 0.5 to 1 centimeter long.
The yellowish white to yellowish pink flowers appear laterally and have a length of 6.5 to 7.5 centimeters. The outer bracts are lighter or darker than the inner ones . The ellipsoidal to club-shaped fruits are yellow and have thorns when immature. They are up to 5 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 2.5 to 3 centimeters.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Austrocactus spiniflorus is common in central Chile .
The first description as Opuntia spiniflora by Rudolph Amandus Philippi was published in 1859. Friedrich Ritter put the species in the genus Austrocactus in 1963 . Nomenclatory synonyms are Erdisia spiniflora (Phil.) Britton & Rose (1920) and Corryocactus spiniflorus (Phil.) Hutchison (1963).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. listed as endangered.
