German-Israeli Literature Days

The international literary meeting German-Israeli Literature Days is an event organized for the first time by the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the “Forum Goethe-Institut ” from March 20 to 24, 2005, bringing German and Israeli writers to readings and discussions at several venues in Berlin should merge.

The occasion was the upcoming 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Germany . In terms of content, the aim is to work out what contemporary literature has to say about the respective societies, their morals , inventories and lines of conflict.

In addition to the readings, there were daily author and topic-centered discussion groups, panel discussions and film events.

The second German-Israeli Literature Days took place from April 11th to 13th, 2008, the third from October 27th to 31st, 2009.

The 13th edition of the German-Israeli Literature Days took place from April 11th to 15th, 2018 in Berlin. Traditionally, a German and an Israeli author met each other in the Deutsches Theater, in the Volksbühne and in the Sophiensaal, presented the current work and held a dialogue on the topic of "Fair enough?" - "What is fair?"
