fc fonts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fc fonts [ ɛf ˈsiː ~] ( English ) are an extension of the Computer Modern font family for African languages with the Latin alphabet (such as the Africa alphabet ). The origin of the acronym “fc” is the term Af rican C omputer Modern (English).

The fc fonts were developed by Jörg Knappen between 1990 and 1992 and implemented in METAFONT . Their coding , the T4 coding , comprises 256  characters (see also character set ) and supports those so-called “critical languages ” of Africa, which are written in the Latin alphabet.

All fc fonts are free software under the GNU General Public License .
