The German Society for Pharmaceutical Medicine e. V. (DGPharMed) is a scientific-medical society with around 1,300 members. According to the statutes, it deals with the discovery, research, development, benefit / risk assessment, approval and placing on the market, continuous monitoring and safety of pharmaceuticals , medical devices and biotechnological products, as well as information and medical communication about them.

DGPharMed is a provider of advanced and advanced training and organizes congresses, conferences, working group meetings and seminars. Since November 2018 she has been publishing the “PM QM” - specialist journal for pharmaceutical medicine and quality management together with the “GQMA - German Quality Management Association eV” (a continuation of the title published by DGPharMed since 1989, most recently as “pharmaceutical medicine”).

history

DGPharMed was founded on April 3, 1973 in Wiesbaden as the “Association of Doctors in the Pharmaceutical Industry eV” (FÄPI for short). In 1996 it was renamed DGPharMed - German Society for Pharmaceutical Medicine eV This renaming went hand in hand with an expansion of the range of tasks and activities and was intended to reflect international developments in the field of pharmaceutical medicine. With the votes on February 15 and March 17, 2016, the current statutes came into force, with which more opportunities to join and actively participate in the company should be achieved through changes in the area of ​​acquiring membership. Ordinary members can now become: Physicians , dentists , veterinarians , natural scientists of all disciplines as well as other academics who have completed studies close to the tasks of society who work in the pharmaceutical industry , medical technology , cosmetics industry, food industry, contract research institutes , basic research , ethics committees or Authorities or practicing doctors (practice, clinic). In addition, there is the possibility of "associated" membership for people with a bachelor's degree, students with a natural science or human medicine degree, non-academics who have completed their training, persons who have dropped out of an academic education, and academics who have completed a degree that does not meet the company's tasks is close, but who work in the pharmaceutical industry, medical technology, cosmetics industry, food industry, contract research institutes, basic research, ethics committees or authorities.

structure

The DGPharMed is organized by the general assembly as its supreme body, as well as a board of directors elected by this (president) , future chairman (president-elect) , previous chairman (immediate past president) , treasurer and a maximum of six assessors). The entire board is re-elected every two years by the general assembly. The term of office of the chairperson, chairperson-designate and previous chairperson is limited to two years.

The board of directors can set up committees, e.g. B. Working groups, project groups or departments.

Bodies

DGPharMed is represented “in the regions” by working groups (regional groups). These exist since 1985 and offer a forum for the exchange of experiences between members and non-members and are dedicated to advanced training in pharmaceutical medicine. There are five working groups in the following regions (as of December 2019): Bavaria, Berlin / Brandenburg, Northern Germany, North Rhine, Southwest.

In six departments , DGPharMed deals with the following task areas that are considered relevant in the long term (as of December 2019):

  • eSolutions (for the use of information technology in clinical research)

  • Market Access (market access for innovative drugs, medical devices and other health technologies)
