The German Oracle User Group eV (DOAG) is one of the most important independent information platforms on Oracle- related topics in German-speaking countries. Every year, the IT association accompanies many members and people working in the Oracle environment on their professional path.

history

The association was founded on June 29, 1988 and entered in the register of associations of the Stuttgart District Court on August 11, 1988. The association is based in Berlin. It is financed from membership fees and surpluses of its own events as well as advertising, for example in the member magazines Red Stack Magazine (formerly DOAG / SOUG News or DOAG News ), DOAG Business News and Java aktuell as well as in newsletters. The organization, implementation and advertising of around 100 events annually as well as the provision of specialist information in print and online media on products and technologies has been carried out by DOAG Dienstleistungen GmbH since 2006.

The DOAG is based on its communities. In each community there is a special address to the respective Oracle users and interested parties.

Goals and interests

The general goal of the DOAG is the exchange of experiences and the transfer of knowledge about the use, handling and experiences with the products of Oracle as well as the representation of the interests of the users towards Oracle. The association attaches particular importance to independence from the manufacturer. In addition, the DOAG is committed internationally to enable networking of different user groups.

  • The members receive guidance and support on security, support, licensing and localization from the Competence Center.

  • Orientation aids in the selection and use of suitable distribution channels;
  • Moderation and escalation platform for Oracle;
  • Bundling and strengthening of individual interests.

DOAG events

User conferences

The DOAG Conference + Exhibition takes place once a year in November , giving users the opportunity to get to know new Oracle-related products, to hear presentations on current topics and to make personal contacts. While well-known speakers and advanced users contest the conference program, the latest products from Oracle and its partners can be seen at the accompanying exhibition. In 2018 the DOAG Conference + Exhibition took place in the Exhibition Center Nuremberg (NCC Ost) , lasted four days and had 2000 participants.

Furthermore, one of the largest Java conferences in Europe, JavaLand , is being organized by the DOAG. It provides the Java community with a framework for learning, experience and exchange. There are also numerous specialist conferences driven by the communities.
