German philatelic youth

The German Philatelist Youth e. V. is the federal association of philatelic youth clubs.

History and structure

The DPhJ was founded in Marburg in 1956. The association is a recognized sponsor of free youth welfare and is divided into 14 regional rings, only partially oriented geographically to federal states. The German Philatelist Youth is one of 16 associations in the Association of German Philatelists .

According to the association, there are around 5,500 members in around 350 independent youth groups, but only 3,726 (2013) according to the Association of German Philatelists. In 2013 the member association “Junge Briefmarkenfreunde Hessen” decided to leave the DPhJ.

The "Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History" (based in Frankfurt a. M.) supports the association financially. The grant decreased from € 45,000 in 2014 to € 15,000 in 2015.

Young Collectors Magazine

The DPhJ is the publisher of the magazine Junge Collector: magazine for young stamp enthusiasts , which appears four times a year.
