The German School Saint Petersburg (DSP) is a German-speaking school abroad in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg . The school, which is under the patronage of the German Consulate General, started on September 1, 2009 initially with a kindergarten for children aged three and over, a pre-school and grades 1 to 9. It is financially supported by the Federal Republic of Germany through the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA) promoted.
The lessons at the German School Saint Petersburg are based on the curriculum of the state of Thuringia . In addition to German, Russian is also an integral part of the curriculum from the first grade, English is taught from the 3rd grade, French follows from the 6th grade. In primary school, art lessons are taught in Russian, all other subjects, with the exception of foreign languages, are taught in German. The all-day offer includes numerous working groups from the scientific, artistic and sporting fields, remedial courses and homework supervision.

Pupils without knowledge of German are admitted to kindergarten and the 1st and 2nd grades of primary school.

The history of the German School Saint Petersburg began in the spring of 2009 with the establishment of the sponsoring and supporting association. School and kindergarten operations began on September 1, 2009. In the 2012/2013 school year, the first pupils passed the “Mittlerer Schulprüfung MSA” exam, which entitles them to transfer to the upper level of the grammar school.
