German World Heritage Foundation
The German World Heritage Foundation is a foundation established in April 2001 by the Hanseatic cities of Stralsund and Wismar , the aim of which is to contribute to the protection and preservation of World Heritage sites and to the balance of the World Heritage lists. With the help of the foundation, financially weak countries in particular should be given an opportunity to protect their cultural and natural heritage and preserve it for future generations.
The German World Heritage Foundation collaborates with the World Heritage Center of UNESCO in Paris and with the Commission UNESCO Germans . The foundation is based in Wismar.
Gottfried Kiesow (1931–2011), who was also involved in the German Foundation for Monument Protection , was one of the members of the Board of Trustees .
