The German advertising and advertising company , DEWAG for short , was an SED- owned monopoly operation for advertising in the GDR , which was responsible for advertising as well as public information boards and posters of various kinds and had a branch in each district town. It was founded by the KPD in Dresden on October 1, 1945 after the SMAD license had been granted and dissolved in 1990. Legally, the Dewag was a party company and belonged to the assets of the SED . Politically, it was directly subordinate to the Agitation Department of the Central Committee of the SED, which also decided on the content and priorities of political advertising. At the same time, it was subordinate to the Council of Ministers insofar as the Council of Ministers also had the advertising measures to be carried out when implementing government resolutions - in coordination with the Central Committee.
