German zoo trade fair

The German Zoo Trade Fair (DeZooFa for short) was a biennial trade fair for pet supplies. The DeZooFa was first organized in 2000 by the Economic Association of Zoological Companies (a subsidiary of the Central Association of Zoological Companies ) in the Rhein-Main-Hallen in Wiesbaden.

At DeZooFa 2005, 155 exhibitors presented their products for pets to more than 3500 trade visitors on a net exhibition area of 5756 m². The share of foreign exhibitors was 14%, that of foreign trade visitors four percent.

The trade fair, which takes place every year between two Interzoo trade fairs, is primarily intended to take into account the needs of the German pet trade and, in particular, to promote animal welfare and the dialogue between groups in society interested in keeping pets. After a new concept was initially planned after the 2007 event, DeZooFa 2009 had to be canceled. The organizer is increasingly concentrating on the promotion of training and further education as well as the creation of a clear professional profile, e.g. zoo specialist or similar.
