The German Pharmacists Association ( DAV ) e. V., based in Berlin, is the union of the state pharmacists' associations at the federal level. Independent pharmacists with their own pharmacy in the Federal Republic of Germany can become members of the regional pharmacist associations . Approx. 90 percent of the self-employed pharmacists are members of one of the 17 regional pharmacists' associations. The association's logo is the well-known red "Apotheken-A".

Fritz Becker has been chairman of the German Pharmacists' Association since 2009. He has been President of the Baden-Württemberg State Pharmacists' Association since 1998. V. There are a total of 17 regional pharmacists' associations, as North Rhine-Westphalia is divided into two districts (NR and WL).

tasks

The main task of the pharmacists' associations is the negotiation and conclusion of drug delivery contracts , which specify the basic task of the public pharmacy to properly supply the population with drugs, especially for statutory health insurance companies according to the fifth book of the Social Security Code . Since the uniform, equal and non-discriminatory drug supply is a commodity of the highest social value, the legislator in the Social Security Code has given the "leading organizations of pharmacists at state or federal level" the monopoly to conclude supply contracts with statutory health insurance companies. This monopoly underscores the will of the legislature to ensure an equal, equal and non-discriminatory drug supply for the population in legal relationships with statutory health insurance companies.

This intention of the legislature is also made clear by the fact that non-members have to accept delivery contracts that the respective regional pharmacists' association has negotiated with statutory health insurance companies without restriction if they want to participate in the supply of medicines to those insured by the statutory health insurance companies.

In addition, the regional pharmacists' associations and their umbrella organization stand up for the political, economic and cultural interests of the members they represent.

history

The German Pharmacists 'Association was founded in 1872, which was re-registered in 1953 and has been called the German Pharmacists' Association (DAV) since 1992. In 1950 the Association of Professional Representatives of German Pharmacists (ABDA) was founded, which has been known as the Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations since 1982. The Federal Chamber of Pharmacists (BAK) has existed since 1956. In the GDR, the pharmacy system was nationalized and organized centrally. There was no comparable organization there.
