German Archaeological Association

The German Archaeological Association (DArV) is the professional association of German archaeologists and primarily represents the professional and social interests of its members from all archaeological disciplines. It was founded on February 1, 1970 in Bonn as a professional association and entered in the register of associations on April 30 . The first chairman was Bernard Andreae until 1972 . Patrick Schollmeyer has headed the association since 2016 .

As many archaeological disciplines as possible should be represented in its committees. The first ordinary general meeting of the association took place on 2/3. January 1971 in Frankfurt am Main. It was under the theme "The meaning and goals of archaeological science in the present".
