German Hop Industry Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Hop Association is an interest group of hop traders and processors.

Association

The association brings together 12 hop traders and hop processors from Germany. Around 95% of the hops grown in Germany are marketed and processed by them. In addition, there are large parts of the hops grown in other countries of the European Union.

The association has its office in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm , in the middle of the largest hop growing area in the world, the Hallertau . The chairman of the DHWV is Peter Hintermeier (member of the management board of BarthHaas GmbH & Co. KG Nuremberg). His deputy is Pascal Piroué (Managing Director Simon H. Steiner Hopfen GmbH). Both companies represent the world's largest hop marketing companies. The association's managing director and in-house officer is lawyer Korbinian Meier.

The association finances its work exclusively from membership fees, it does not receive any subsidies from government agencies.

Until 2001 the association was called the Association of Hop Merchants and Hop Refiners

tasks

The DHWV represents the interests of its members nationwide and across Europe. He is involved when it comes to new legislation, for example on the designation of hop varieties or the trade in hops. But also improving the logistics when working with hops, for example cooling or pressing, is one of his tasks.
