Dionyssos-Rapendoza German military cemetery

The German military cemetery Dionyssos-Rapendoza is located 30 km northeast of Athens in the Pentelikon . Here is the resting place for around 9,900 German soldiers. The facility was inaugurated on September 28, 1975.

At the German military cemetery in Dionyssos-Rapendoza there are 68 fallen from the First World War and 9,905 fallen from the Second World War , who were reburied here from various cemeteries throughout Greece except Crete. The complex includes twelve underground crypts, which are distributed over three walled courtyards; The bones of up to 850 dead are housed in each crypt.

The names and dates of those buried here are noted on natural stone plaques above the tombs. The names of 843 fallen soldiers, whose physical remains could not be recovered, are also recorded on memorial plaques.
