Helsinki-Honkanummi German War Cemetery
The German military cemetery Helsinki-Honkanummi is located in Vantaa , about 20 kilometers northeast of the city center of the Finnish capital Helsinki .
The approximately 12,000 square meter cemetery was created in August 1963 when war dead from southern Finland were put together and, in addition to six graves of German military personnel from the First World War, mainly includes those who died in the Second World War . Among other things, the recovered corpses of 201 seafarers of the German destroyers Z 35 and Z 36, which sank on December 12, 1944 on their own mine barrier, rest here .
