German Traffic Court Day

The German Traffic Court Conference (VGT) is an annual conference for road traffic law . It has nationwide relevance, as its recommendations are often taken into account in politics when creating laws and regulations.

The conference deals in an interdisciplinary way with all areas of traffic science , with a focus on case law in traffic matters . Participants are lawyers and experts in traffic law, traffic safety, vehicle technology and traffic engineering from research, teaching and practice. In addition to a number of plenary events, numerous thematic working groups are formed which publish their results as recommendations.

The conference has been taking place since 1963 and is organized by the Association of German Traffic Court Days - German Academy for Traffic Science - which was renamed in 2009 and is based in Hamburg . Between 1500 and 2000 participants come to the event.

Ansgar Staudinger has been President of the Verkehrsgerichtstag since January 2019 , while the Senior Public Prosecutor Birgit Heß is the Vice-President .

The VGT takes place in Goslar in the last week of January .
