German microfinance institute

The German Microfinance Institute e. V. (DMI) supports advisory and financing organizations (start-up centers, target group-specific advisory institutions, business development agencies, urban developers, etc.) in Germany in setting up local, regional and nationwide microfinance organizations. To this end, it provides the organizations with training measures as well as methods and instruments for loan processing and support. After an accreditation process as a microfinance provider, the DMI recommends these organizations to a liability fund ( microfinance fund Germany ).

The registered association , which was founded in April 2004 , is based in Berlin .

The DMI acts as an apex organization in setting up a microfinance sector in Germany. It supports the capacity building of local microfinance organizations, carries out benchmarking on the success of lending for investors and funding institutions and promotes the transfer of know-how and the networking of microfinance organizations.
