German hiking badge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Hiking Badge has been awarded by the German Hiking Association since 2010 . The award depends on the distance traveled in the calendar year. The entries of the hikes are made in the hiking fitness pass, a collection booklet for club hikes that is valid throughout Germany. The German hiking badge is a performance and motivation badge that aims to encourage people to exercise more regularly. Since the German hiking badge was established in 2010, over 13,500 badges have been awarded.

The German hiking badge and the hiking fitness pass as well as special health hikes are part of the Let's go exercise and health initiative developed by the German Hiking Association - every step keeps you fit . The initiative was funded by the Federal Ministry of Health from 2008 to 2009 and is a model project of IN FORM , Germany's initiative for healthy eating and more exercise. Over 50 health insurance companies recognize the German hiking badge in their bonus programs.

stages

The hiking badge is available in the following levels:

  • bronze
  • silver
  • gold

The level that is awarded depends on how often the requirements for the award have been met. You can only meet this requirement once per calendar year. Regardless of the distance hiked, it is therefore not possible to acquire a level other than bronze within one year. The requirements for the levels are as follows:

  • Bronze: Meeting the requirements in one calendar year
  • Silver: fulfillment of the requirement in three different calendar years
  • Gold: fulfillment of the requirement in five different calendar years

After five more years, the gold badge with an imprinted number (5, 10 or 15) is awarded.

Guidelines for the award

The award is based on the hiking distances covered: Adults have to cover 200 km within a calendar year, young people 150 km and children 100 km. People with recognized disabilities meet half of the requirements. Participation in at least 10 hikes per calendar year is a prerequisite for the award, as particularly regular exercise has a positive effect on health. In the case of a hike lasting several days, only a maximum of three days are taken into account. Various hiking activities carried out by the hiking associations affiliated to the German Hiking Association are evaluated. A membership of the hikers in a hiking club is not required to receive the badge. Participation in the activities must be confirmed by the hiking guide in the hiking fitness pass.
