The German-speaking SAP user group e. V. ( DSAG ) is an association founded in 1997 with headquarters in Walldorf (Baden) , in which more than 3,500 SAP customers have come together. This makes it one of the world's largest independent interest groups for SAP users.

structure

The structure of the association is divided into

  • Board
  • Office and
  • Working groups

CEO is Dr. Marco Lenck.

The members meet regularly in around 200 working groups and groups, the content of which is geared towards industry solutions, processes and central technical aspects of the SAP software. Over 60,000 people from over 3,300 member companies discuss potential for both sides physically, online and by email.

The DSAG annual congress takes place once a year with over 4,500 participants, where keynotes from customers and SAP, working group meetings and the general assembly are held.

In September 2009 the organization of the association was expanded to include a "CIO Advisory Board", which is supposed to channel strategic issues from IT decision-makers ( CIOs ) of the member companies. Together with the DSAG board, the interests of the members should be better represented vis-à-vis SAP.

Purpose and goals of the DSAG

According to the articles of association, the DSAG offers "the organizational framework for the collective representation of interests of German-speaking users of SAP products". The aim of the association is the "partnership-based coordination of interests and cooperation between SAP software users and SAP for the purpose of expanding and improving SAP software products".

membership

Companies, institutions and authorities that use SAP software can become members of the DSAG. Furthermore, consulting firms that offer services and services to SAP customers, become a member, but are subject to a strict code. Membership fees amount to either 500 euros or 1,000 euros per year, depending on the turnover and focus of the company's activities. Legally and economically independent units within group structures must each have their own membership.

International

DSAG is one of the largest SAP user groups worldwide. There are similar alliances in the USA ( Americas SAP Users' Group , ASUG), Australia ( SAP Australian User Group , SAUG), Great Britain ( SAP UK & Ireland User Group ), Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and other countries .

effect

The meetings of the individual working groups are central to the DSAG's approach. In these, the customer representatives report on current problems with the SAP solutions as well as on new functionalities which, in their opinion, would represent useful future enhancements. This criticism and the suggestions are made known in the form of development requests in internal SAP meetings. In the opinion of the trade press, these suggestions and criticism certainly have weight for the future development of the products and the far-reaching product strategy.

In addition, the DSAG is often used by the business press as an independent contact for technical questions.

criticism

The association is sometimes accused of not maintaining a sufficient distance from the SAP group. Particularly in the run-up to the 2007 annual congress, members were accused of being “too dependent on SAP and not providing members with enough neutral information”. Since the dispute over the introduction of mandatory enterprise support by SAP, this accusation has been put into perspective.
