Decentralization space

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In a decentralization area , smaller units of the National People's Army were spatially separated and equipped with technical means so that they could act independently of one another for a certain period of time. The aim of the separation was to make reconnaissance more difficult by opposing forces and to minimize the consequences of any enemy attacks.

This type of construction was particularly popular on military airfields, with the individual decentralization areas being equipped with all services. Each room thus had its own tank, ammunition and supply depot. In this way, all take-off preparations could be carried out safely in protective aircraft structures. The decentralization rooms were often equipped with extended taxiways on which emergency starts could be carried out. In normal flight operations to start preparing the technical equipment were at the Vorstartlinie and the runway used.
