Dhankar Gompa

Dhankar is a village and monastery in the valley of the Spiti between Kaza and Tabo in the state of Himachal Pradesh in northwestern India .

The monastery is located at 3900 m altitude on a hill above the village of Dhankar. It belongs to the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism . The oldest parts of the building date from the 12th century. Lively construction activity can still be observed today.
