KK Yoshigai ( Japanese 株式会社 ヨ シ ガ イ , Kabushiki kaisha Yoshigai ), known for the brand name Dia-Compe , is a Japanese manufacturer of bicycle components from Kadoma in Osaka Prefecture . Dia-Compe specializes in bicycle brake components.

Company history

The company founder built the first bicycle brake in 1930 . In 1949 the company was converted into a stock corporation. Later Kiyokazu and Toshiharu Yoshigai, the sons of the company founder, took over the management. Kiyokazu Yoshigai's son Kozo Yoshigai is now President of the company. In the 1960s, the Swiss manufacturer Weinmann supplied Dia-Compe with brake parts. Subsidiaries for the Dia-Compe brand were founded in the United States in 1975 , in the Republic of China (Taiwan) in 1987 , in Japan in 1996 and in the People's Republic of China in 2001 . As the brand is well known, a number of other wheel parts are now also being sold by Dia-Compe. Other KK Yoshigai brand names for wheel parts are Diatech and Gran Compe. A subsidiary of the Diatech brand was founded in 1996 in the United States. The company also produces complete bicycles. In 2005 the company's headquarters moved to Kadoma .
