Diakonie Sachsen
The Diakonie Sachsen , also Diakonisches Werk Sachsen or Diakonisches Werk der Evangelisch-Lutherischen (Ev.-Luth.) Regional church of Saxony , is the welfare association of the Evangelical-Lutheran regional church of Saxony . As one of the central associations of voluntary welfare, the individual member institutions perform many social tasks.
Since the regional church and political boundaries in the Free State of Saxony do not match, the Diakonisches Werk Berlin-Brandenburg, Silesian Upper Lusatia and the Diakonisches Werk Mitteldeutschland are also active in Saxony.
structure
The Diakonisches Werk is administered by the Diaconal Office of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Saxony , which is located in Radebeul-Niederlößnitz in Saxony at Oberen Bergstrasse 1 . The Diaconal Office represents the Saxon Diakonie in the League of Free Welfare Care in Saxony .
Diaconal work is carried out through the action of more than 22,000 employees and countless volunteers who come together as the “acting church” in around 1,800 institutions, services and advice centers.
Diakonia “on site” is carried out by around 148 legal members, including:
- City Missions
- Diaconal works in church districts
- regional social welfare organizations
These operate for example:
- 113 retirement and nursing homes
- 102 social stations
- 57 residential homes for people with disabilities and the chronically mentally ill
- 34 workshops for people with disabilities and 16 support and support groups
- 246 day care centers
- 58 homes and residential groups for children and young people
- over 250 advice centers
- 13 hospitals and rehabilitation clinics
- 17 outpatient hospice services
- 2 stationary hospices
history
The Diakonie was founded as an Inner Mission in 1867 as the first of today's Saxon charities.
The Inner Mission and the Evangelical Relief Organization merged in 1990 to form the Diaconal Work of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Saxony .
