DialogOS is a graphical development environment for dialog systems, i.e. computer systems that communicate with people via voice input and output. The program was initially developed commercially and distributed by CLT Sprachtechnologie GmbH. It has been further developed as open source software since 2018.

In addition to the integration of speech recognition and speech output, DialogOS has a programming interface to connect external devices to the dialog system. The scope of delivery includes an integration for the LEGO Mindstorms NXT. With a little knowledge of Java , you can also program a bridge to any other software modules or external hardware.

DialogOS is used in computer science classes at schools and universities to convey the basics of human-machine communication and dialog design.

Mindstorm NXT support

DialogOS can control robots from the LEGO Mindstorms NXT series directly. The following NXT sensors can be used directly from DialogOS:

  • Sound sensor
  • Ultrasonic sensor
  • Pressure contact sensor
  • Light sensor
