Dianne Pilkington (born June 7, 1975 in Wigan , England ) is a British musical artist and actress .

Act

Pilkington was born in Wigan. She graduated from the Guildford School of Acting. After completing her studies, she became a member of the ensemble of Les Misérables at the Palace Theater, where she could also be seen as the second cast of 'Fantine' and 'Cosette'.

In musical and theater in the Westend she also played 'Marion Dewy' in Tess at the Savoy Theater , 'Beggarin' in Sweeney Todd at the Bridewell Theater, 'Protestantin' in The Beautiful Game at the Cambridge Theater, 'Kim' in Taboo at the Victoria Palace Theater , 'Mary' in Tonight's The Night at the Victoria Palace Theater, 'Snow White' in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Victoria Palace Theater, and 'Belinda' in The Far Pavilions at the Shaftesbury Theater.

In tour productions she played Belle in The Beauty and the beast and Grizabella in Cats .

In workshops she sang 'Hope' in Urinetown , 'Tonya' in Dr Zhivago , 'Helen' in Helen of Troy , 'Charlotte' in Charlotte - Life or Theater? , and 'Meg' in Love Never Dies . Together with Boy George she was seen in the Concert at the Albert Hall .

Dianne Pilkington is best known as the first cast of "Glinda" in the Broadway musical Wicked - The Witches of Oz at the Victoria Apollo Theater in London . She took on the role of Helen Dallimore on July 16, 2007, after having been their understudy for three months. She played that role for almost three years before finally leaving the show on March 27, 2010. Her successor as 'Glinda' is Louise Dearman.

Pilkington most recently 'Annabella Schmidt', 'Pamela', and 'Margaret' in The 39 Steps at the Criterion Theater, which premiered on April 26, 2010.

Her first film premiered in February 2010. In Wolfman with Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt , Dianne Pilkington plays a blind opera singer.

Pilkington also made a few appearances on television, such as a West End special episode of The Weakest Flies , Britain's Got Talent and This Morning , where she presented songs from Wicked, and on The Alan Titchmarsh Show .

Personal life

Pilkington married her life partner, the musician Jean-Claude Pelletier, on October 10, 2010.

Awards

Pilkington was nominated for 'Best Takeover Role' in 2008 by the theatergoers' vote, but Kerry Ellis (her leading actor) won. Together with Alexia Khadime, she won the 'Art and Culture Woman of the Future' award in 2009.
