A diastolic aortic tap phenomenon , English Diastolic Aortic Steal, describes an abnormally increased flow of blood ( steal phenomenon ) from the ascending aorta , whereby blood is withdrawn from the supply area.

The main causes are persistent ductus arteriosus and congenital or acquired aortic valve insufficiency .
