The Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung , long-title Catholic newspaper for politics, society and culture , or ASZ for short, was a weekly newspaper.

It appeared for the first time in 1956 as a successor to the Catholic weekly newspaper Michael and the magazine Die Wacht , the central organ of the Federation of German Catholic Youth , which ceased publication with the first edition. It was published by the Würzburg publishers Echter (until 1960) and Johann Wilhelm Naumann Verlag and dealt with political, social, cultural and sporting issues from a conservative Catholic point of view.
