The anonymous portrayed could be Diego Velázquez's daughter Francisca. But it is definitely a lady of high status. What is unusual about his portraits is that they are not members of the court.

Dating

In 1639, deep sections were forbidden, which is why the picture must have been taken earlier. For stylistic reasons, the picture is dated between 1635 and 1638.
