Jacob's Ladder (Schönberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jakobsleiter (named after the biblical Jakobsleiter ) is an unfinished oratorio for solos, choirs and orchestra, which the composer Arnold Schönberg created from 1916 to 1917 based on his own poem.

An attempt by Schönberg to complete the fragment around 1944/45 was unsuccessful. Only after his death was a score written by Winfried Zillig on behalf of his widow .
