The Tonne is a theater that has existed in the Baden-Württemberg city ​​of Reutlingen since the late 1950s .

There are around 260 performances with different stage plays every year.

history

In 1958 a theater association was initially founded by artists. In 1980 the theater moved to the basement theater under the Spitalhof in the city center. Since 2003, it has been supported as a non-profit company with limited liability (gGmbH) by the city, the theater association and the district of Reutlingen . Since then it has also been housed with a second venue in the former factory building of Planie 22.

Enrico Urbanek has been director of the theater since 2001. He coined the motto “making art possible”. Various collaborations were organized, including the theater group with people with disabilities, whose members are trained in the means of expression of the theater over two full working days.

On January 19, 2018, the new building of the municipal theater Die Tonne was inaugurated on the site of the former Listhalle.
