Service Award Cross (Sachsen-Altenburg)

The service award cross for officers of the Duke of Saxony-Altenburg military was donated by Duke Joseph Friedrich Ernst of Saxony .

The foundation date was January 1, 1836. This award was intended to honor long-serving officers with a minimum service period of 25 years. The medal was awarded twice a year. The dates were January 1st and August 27th. The period of service was calculated according to the rule: wartime double time and vacation time halved.

Order decoration

The order decoration was a silver paw cross with curved outer lines and golden frame. In the center of the round shield was the year of service in Roman numerals "XXV". The other side showed the crown raised and below the name of the duke.

Ribbon and way of wearing

The ribbon was a silky green ribbon with a silver border. The award was worn between the first and second button.
