Dieudo Hamadi

Dieudonné "Dieudo" Hamadi (born February 22, 1984 in Kisangani ) is a Congolese film director.

Life

Hamadi initially studied medicine before attending a number of documentary film workshops. In 2009 he realized the segments "Ladies in Waiting" and "Zero Tolerance" of the documentary film Congo in Four Acts , which was shown in the Forum of the Berlinale in 2010, and in 2010 the short documentary film Dames en attente . Hamadi's first feature-length documentary Atalaku was made in 2013 , followed by Examen d'état in 2014 .

In 2017 Hamadi and Maman Colonelle received an invitation to the “Forum” section of the Berlinale. The film portrays a 44-year-old woman who heads a police unit that is dedicated to protecting raped women and abused children in the war-torn regions of the Congo. Maman Colonelle won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in the Forum and the Prize of the Readers' Jury of the Tagesspiegel.
