Google effect

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Google effect , also known as digital amnesia , is the tendency to forget information that can easily be found online with the help of Internet search engines . According to the first study of the Google Effect, people are less likely to remember certain details that they believe will be accessible online. However, the study also claims that people's ability to learn information offline remains the same. This effect can also be seen as a change in what information and what level of detail is considered important to remember.
