Dinghausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dinghausen also Tydinchusen is a desolate place in Brilon .

The place was in front of the Bilstein in the direction of Brilon. The Lords of Padberg had a farm here. This was mentioned in a sales deed in 1387, it was sold to Heinrich Fischer.

Like many other places, the place fell victim to the great desolation process in the late Middle Ages . It must have been a creeping, slow process. This began around 1300. There are different theories about the reasons for leaving the place. For example, the attraction of the city of Brilon is being considered. Another reason was plague epidemics and residents' need to seek shelter in fortified cities .

In the book "The Westphalian place names according to their basic words" by Hermann Jellinghaus from 1896, Tydinchusen is mentioned as a desert near Bredelar (1387). In 2013, Tydinchusen appears in the book "Die Ortsnames des Hochsauerlandkreises" 1429 as the name of the Tidinghausen location, which is about 2 km east of Messinghausen on the Hoppecke.
