Direct connection station

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A direct connection station serves for the direct connection of a water extinguishing system to the public drinking water network . According to the underlying requirements of DIN 1988-600, the direct connection station is listed as a permissible separation according to DIN 14464. It is important to have a sufficient water supply that can provide sufficient pressure / volume flow. In new systems, the peak volume flow is limited to 50 m³ / h.

function

In the basic position there is a separation by a free piece of pipe that can dry off. If a fire is detected by the connected sprinkler system, the pressure in the extinguishing system network drops. This pressure drop is measured. As a result, an opposing slide switches and closes the free pipe section and at the same time opens the connection to the drinking water network. Due to the pressure difference, no stagnant water from the sprinkler system can flow into the drinking water network.

If the direct connection station is reset, the slide is moved back to its basic position and the free pipe section can dry off again, as required by the standard.
