Dirk and me

Dirk and I is the first children's book by Andreas Steinhöfel . It was published during his exam in 1991 and describes everyday situations over the course of a year from a child's point of view.

The first-person narrator is seven-year-old Andreas, who reports on the experiences with his six-year-old brother Dirk. The book describes the everyday scenes that are typical for the brothers and sisters, ranging from accidents while sledding to making gifts with school friends, arguing whether the Christ Child is a boy or a girl, to visiting an old people's home where the children fight.

The book was recommended by the association “Reading without Borders” for German foreign language teaching in Dutch schools from the second year of training.
