The Ditanaklasis is a vertical fortepiano , the main difference between it and the pyramid piano is the lower position of the cover. The Ditanaklasis was invented in 1800 by Matthäus Müller in Vienna.

nature

The strings were struck almost in the middle, a circumstance to which the special tonal beauty of the instrument was ascribed. The real reason for this shift was that Müller originally built his piano for two players who sat opposite each other on separate keyboards - tuned at octave intervals - that is, were separated from one another by the housing and only by lowering it and also by retracting its upper one The opportunity to see each other and to communicate. Even when Müller built his ditanaklasis with a keyboard in order to have a larger paragraph , he retained the low register and thus gave the prototype of the pianino . The pianist Joh. Posch was very committed to the instrument at the time and played it on his concert tours.
