Dobrotoljubie

The Dobrotoljubie (Russian "добротолюбие" ) is the Russian title of a two-volume edition of the Philocalie . Starez Paissij Welitschowski (1722–1794) translated it into Church Slavonic . This work was published in Saint Petersburg in 1793 . Theophan Goworow (also Feofan der Klausner) (1815-1894) provided another translation into modern Russian . Its five-volume edition, expanded to 38 grandfathers , was published in 1877 on holy Mount Athos . Reprints were made in Moscow from 1883 ; Volumes 1, 2 and 5 are particularly important.
