The Dodengang is a memorial to the memory of the First World War in Diksmuide .

history

The Dodengang is a 270 meter long trench that was held by the Belgian armed forces . The trench played an important role on the Yser front .

In 1919 the Dodengang became a memorial. In 2014 a German bunker was added and restored. The monument is administered by the War Heritage Institute.

A demarcation stone was inaugurated by Albert I on Easter Sunday 1922 . It is part of a series of stones that mark the western front . The tip of the stone is modeled on a Belgian helmet, as used during the First World War.
