from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dodis is an internet database of the research center “ Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland ”.

Description of the database

Example of a scan in Dodis

Dodis enables - in addition to the file edition - access to digitized documents. The database contains thousands of digitized documents on Switzerland's international relations, mainly from the Swiss Federal Archives. There is also metadata on people and organizations from international and Swiss history, on geographical locations and thematic keywords. It also provides information on domestic and foreign persons and organizations that were active in foreign policy.

The relational database works complementary to the file edition “Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland” and is intended to explain individual aspects of international relations more precisely and in more detail. In contrast to the printed version of the files, the documents on Dodis have no annotations, but are indexed and keyed according to scientific criteria. Dodis shows the documents as a scan in Portable Document Format (PDF). Permalinks to the documents begin with http://dodis.ch/ followed by the document number (e.g. dodis.ch/36251), for topic dossiers with a T and a number (see thematic directory), personal dossiers marked with a P ( E.g. dodis.ch/P11899), geographic dossiers with a G (e.g. dodis.ch/G83) and corporate dossiers with an R (e.g. dodis.ch/R9676).
