The Dokumental GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of inks and writing fluids, headquartered in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. With over 60 years of experience in the development and production of writing inks, Dokumental is the global market leader and exports its products to around 100 countries worldwide.
history
The history of the Dokumental goes back to the year 1952 when the company "Mittenwald Chemie" was founded in the Bavarian Mittenwald. Documental was created in 1992 from the merger with the Ludwigshafen-based IKF (industrial adhesives and paints). This created the world's leading supplier of inks and writing fluids. The market position was strengthened through the acquisition of National Ink Ltd. further expanded in 2010. In the same year the Shanghai Documental Ink Co. Ltd. founded in order to be able to offer products especially for the growing Asian market.
In 2001, Dokumental was certified according to ISO 9001. In 2013 he was named “Known Consignor” and “Regulated Agent” from the Federal Aviation Office. In February 2014, Dokumental finally achieved certification as an authorized economic operator through the AEO certificate "Customs simplifications / security" (AEO-F).
Locations
Ludwigshafen am Rhein is the seat of the management and the location of production, marketing, sales, technical service, quality assurance and research and development. The location in the Bavarian town of Mittenwald, which has its own quality control and technical service, is still an important part of production today. While ballpoint pen pastes and solvent-based inks are predominantly manufactured in Ludwigshafen, Mittenwald focuses on the production of water-soluble inks.
Shanghai Documental Ink supplies the Asian market with water-based solutions. In order to increase the efficiency of the supply chain in Asia, the Chinese branch also acts as a warehouse for ink “Made in Germany”.
In order to ensure customer support in North and South America and Southeast Asia, there are further sales offices in San Diego and Singapore.
Product portfolio
Documental offers its customers tailor-made problem solutions for the coordination of inks and writing instrument components. Documental's product portfolio is divided into the areas of writing, marking, highlighting and coloring.
The writing area includes ballpoint pen pastes and inks for fineliners, gel pens, rollerballs and fountain pens.
The marking segment includes the ink production of permanent colored pencils as well as erasable whiteboard markers, which are increasingly used in public institutions and private organizations. Further components of this product area are solutions for foil pens and t-shirt markers.
As part of the highlighting product line, inks are developed that can be found in highlighters. Highlighter pens are traditionally used to highlight certain elements of a document or significant sections of text in color.
The coloring portfolio includes a wide range of inks for fiber pens as well as a wide range of different colored special inks for the production of all kinds of writing utensils, such as: B. color changing or erasable ink innovations.
